Encouraged!

So Kara has been sick for over a week (as many of you heard her hacking at the Christmas party!). She had gotten a virus which led to an ear infection and fever. Poor little thing! She passed the cough on to me which has not made being pregnant any easier! Needless to say its been a rough couple of weeks at the DeLap household. She seems to be getting better little by little and is now on antibiotics for the infection. I was even more encouraged today during my time in the Word and prayer by this verse from Joshua, as well as from a song in a parenting study I'm doing. Hope they encourage you too!

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go". Joshua 1:9

"Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful. May the fire of our devotion light their way. may the footprints that we leave lead them to believe and the lives we live inspire them to obey. Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful". Song title: Find us Faithful by John Mohr

The Baby Shower!

I realized I forgot to post pictures from the baby shower last month! It was such a fun time and everyone was so generous! We had yummy munchies, conversation, and intense games of "Name That Brand" and word unscramble. Thanks again to Great Aunt Beth for getting the ball rolling in the word unscramble with the word "burp". It was a help to us all :) And congrats to Grandma DeLap for winning the gift basket drawing! I hope everyone had fun and enjoys the pictures!

36-ish Days To Go!

Well baby-no-name (yes, we still haven't decided on one!) is due in 36 days! Wow! I know both Andy and I are so excited to meet our little girl but also a little anxious about the whole thing. I myself actually seem to be more anxious about after she is born- figuring out feedings, sleep time, what does this cry mean- than the actual labor itself. Maybe that will change as the day gets closer though!
I had another appt. yesterday morning- all is well, praise God. Everything is on track and her heartbeat is still strong. She is facing head down for sure now and she moves around all the time everyday. This girl is getting ready to meet everybody! I've even started having Braxton Hicks "practice" contractions which are pretty interesting. Sometimes it just feels like uncomfortable tightening, but earlier today they were actually a little painful. Andy and I were cracking up though because I involuntarily was making a pretty funny yelping/screaming noise each time :)
Anyway, we hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful snow and we can't wait for the Christmas party. Thanksgiving is going to be low-key for us this year. Stay warm and thanks for all the prayers!!!

Another one down...

Hello all! Well another appointment down and another week of counting down. Only 10 more weeks-ish to go until baby D. is here! My appt. yesterday went fine- everything is as it should be...although I seem to be gaining a little more weight than recommended :) Apparently the pregnancy books are right- I'm not really eating for two! Andy and I also had a hospital tour at Sparrow this week just to get an idea of what to expect. I found it really helpful to have a picture in my head of where I'll deliver. Andy, on the other hand, I think started to look a little pale and maybe had a few chest pains...that's to be expected though for a first time father-to-be, right? Well, here is the latest picture of my ever expanding belly. Can I really have 2 1/2 more months of growing to do?! I also wanted to include a picture of our "first child", Sasha in her pre-baby days. Has anyone read the 'Carl the Rottweiler' children's book series? They are adorable and we already have one for the baby. We are getting curious to see how Sasha responds to the baby. Rotties are known to be really great around kids. She sure loved Elena...well, licking Elena's feet really. I guess Kiki's laughter meant she liked Sahsa too!

Too long??

Hi everybody! I had another check up this past thursday. Everything is going great...although my uterus measured another cm longer than expected. The doctor said its no problem though, unless next time it measures 2 cm too long, then 3 or 4 cm long the next time, etc. She said it probably just means I have a big baby (hopefully long, not round!), a little extra fluid or something else. Nothing to be worried over. The baby's heart rate is right on target and she's moving a ton! She takes after her cousin Elena, aka KiKi! Andy did take some new pictures of me and the baby bump...I just have to post them. They look a little like mugshots though...Anyway, I have another appt. in 2 wks. and the baby countdown from Aunt Sarah/Uncle Ray said baby will be here in about 81 days!!!
